History

A choir made up of 18 young people with consolidated vocal training and a wide repertoire including all genres and eras. They started their journey as a children’s choir and, since they were 6 years old, have received technical vocal classes from which they have gained a high level of skill that allows them to take on all types of repertoire with excellent results.

Their concert activity has developed on the most prestigious stages in Catalonia (L’Auditori, Palau de la Música, Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, Reials Acadèmies de Belles Arts i Bones Lletres, Auditori Winterthur…), Spain, (Andalucia, Aragon, Castille and Leon, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Galicia, Madrid, Navarre, the Basque Country), as well as different cities in Italy, France, Germany and Portugal.

They have performed the cantata Glosas del Peregrino and the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, in many places along the Camino de Santiago (Collegiate Church of Roncesvalles, Santo Domingo de la Calzada Cathedral, the Encina de Ponferrada Basilica and the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral). They took part in the closing concert of the 3rd Congress of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes in Spain, with the performance of the first preserved oratory of Spain, Aquí de la fe, by J.V. Gargallo.

They performed several concerts as part of commemorations of the 4th Centenary of Quijote, in which they released the cantata El Túmulo de Altisidora, dedicated to Dr Martín de Riquer, in the Real Academia de Buenas Letras and in the Palau de la Música in Barcelona. They also took a program dedicated to music in the Cervantes era and with texts by Quijote to the Escorial Monastery, within the concert cycle of the Complutense University of Madrid. They have performed in various French cities, among them Brive-la Gaillarde (Limousin), where they were invited to take part in a festival along with Les Choristes de Sant Marc and in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

They have travelled on many occasions to Italy, where they have performed many concerts. In 2002, at Saint Peter’s Basilica, they performed the piece dedicated to the beatification of John XXIII, Ecce Quam Bonum, and at the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran in 2011, the mass of St Damien de Veuster.

Several soloists from the choir performed at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, in the “El Pont Blau” shows, organised by the Institut Ramon Llull, with an original programme of Spanish baroque music. They also performed a concert of American music in the IEN (Institute of North American Studies).

For the 5th Centenary of the birth of Saint Francis Xavier, they performed several concerts with Spanish baroque music dedicated to the Navarran saint in Barcelona, Lleida, the University of Deusto (Biscay), the Sanctuary of Loyola (Gipuzkoa), and the Sanctuary of Javier (Navarre). They also performed that same repertoire in Portugal at the University of Braga, in Lisbon, and in Fátima.

They released in Montblanc (Tarragona) an oratory for soloists, choir and orchestra Corona d’Estels, which was released on CD. They performed the oratory “El Mesias” by Handel in the Palau de la Música and in the monastery of Sant Cugat.

In 2016 they took part in various concerts in Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz, in which they released, (together with the choir Iubilo Bilbao Abesbatza), the cantata for choir, soloists and orchestra the Cántico de las Criaturas over a text by Saint Francis of Assisi.
